Today, the children in Kestrels have prepared the ingredients, cooked and sampled Jollof rice. This was definitely more popular than the cinnamon and honey flavoured yoghurt last week! The recipe will be shared on Arbor in case you’d like to have a go at cooking it together at home.
This week it was Kestrel’s turn to share books in the library. . We were blessed with some sunny weather, which meant that once a book had been chosen, children could sit in the grounds to share it with their family. Thank you for joining us. We hope you enjoyed your time together!
Well done to all our superstars in Kingfishers this week!
Today, it is World Book Day and the children (and staff ) have all come to school in their pyjamas and brought their favourite bedtime story to share with their friends. They will be bringing home a £1 book voucher, which can be used to purchase one of the World Day Books or put towards a book of their choice. The £1 World Book Day Books are available to buy in bookshops and supermarkets. Happy Reading!
It has been a busy day at Anker Valley today...even Year 1 have been out and about in the local area carrying out some map work. They had aerial views of the estate so they could find where they were standing in relation to the school. Astro was also very happy to be joining them on their walk.
Kingfishers have had an amazing day at Lunt Roman Fort. They have learnt why it is preferable to be a Roman soldier and not a Celt and all survived the battlefield (just).
In assembly this morning, we found out about different pancake traditions for the four countries of the UK as well as our annual pancake race the children in Kestrels have had a go at flipping them too.

Thank you to all the parents in Kingfishers, who joined us for our first family library session. We have had lots of lovely feedback. Next Friday will be Kestrels chance to change their books with their grown-ups.
Well done to our first star writers who will now be writing in pen in all of their books!
